Tales From The Other Side

Well, all... here we are. It's been three days since the wedding and Katherine hasn't murdered me (well, at least not yet). We figured it was time for a run-down for all of you in bloggy-land. So... without further ado...

The ceremony was great. Short and sweet. I think it only took twenty minutes to get through. "Do you? Yes. Do you? Yes. Man and wife." Plus, no one cried. Super-bonus! The organist arrived only ten minutes before the wedding, causing our wedding coordinator no end of stress. Fortunately, we had an emergency backup musician (who was also the hymn-leader). Jay's sermon was really nice. I think I remember most of it. Andy was looking fly and did a great job with his responsibilities. The church was fairly full, though I didn't spend much time looking around. Katherine was HOT. I mean she's always hot, but this was wedding hot. My dad was able to limp to the podium to read the verse (go dad!), and Katherine's dad didn't cry when giving her away (although I can't say that I got her for free...). My other major impression of the ceremony was that there were lots of fake poinsettias amongst the fake Christmas trees. But the decorations all looked really nice and didn't cost us a dime.

The photographer, Andres Valenzuela, was awesome. Really, I've never seen a better photographer at a wedding. He was extremely efficient, personable, and we've already seen that his photos are fantastic. There is already a slideshow up on his website, if you'd like to check it out. We are really impressed. And yes, it was cold and the bottom of Katherine's dress was a little dirty afterward. Of course, it was well worth it if these first pictures are any indicator. Really, if you're getting married within a stone's throw of Westchester, New York, he's a splendiferous option (and his prices are very reasonable).

The reception was lots of fun, but we didn't have enough time to talk with anyone for as long as we would have liked. The food was great, at least what I actually got to try and the service was first rate. Dennis (Katherine's dad) gave a hilarious toast and my brothers (although taking a more sentimental tone) really hit the nail on the head with their toast. I think the cake was good, but we only had about two bites each.

We've spent the last couple of days hanging around in Hartford, and now we're back in Avon having Christmas with the Sanfords. Or at least most of them (Collin and Kim are in central PA with Kim's parents). This afternoon will be the Jordan Christmas party (my mom's side of the family), which is always an extravaganza of biblical proportions.

I think we're going to leave for Indiana tomorrow afternoon and arrive on Thursday at the latest. I hope you like the wedding slideshow, because it's really great. We have more pictures of the rehearsal and wedding that we'll post in the near future.
